With so much evil in the world, where is God? Why does He not intervene to deliver us from our awful situation? We know God is in religion, but why is He not helping in economics and politics? Are we left on our own in this area? As we become aware of our situation, these are the questions that we must ask.
So few of us recognize God’s role in economics, society, law, or even in the moral foundation of our lives. So many of us limit God’s role only to the religious aspects of our life. This is one of the great victories of the adversary, in that he has convinced most of us that if there is a God, he is only in religion. Through this belief, he is able to lead most individuals to one of three positions or a variation of one of these positions.
- Religion is Everything – These individuals find God in religion, and as they cannot feel Him in the other aspects of their life, assume that religion is the only important thing in life. In this position, they make great contributions to religion, but fail to recognize their responsibilities and opportunities in other aspects of their life.
- Secularism – Like the first category, these individuals find God in religion, but cannot recognize Him in the other aspects of their life. Because of this, they accept that God is not involved in these other aspects of their life and no longer seek to understand his role or obtain his help in these areas.
- Atheism – These individuals cannot find God in religion. As they don’t know how to continue their search, they stop believing in God altogether.
- Antitheism – These individuals do not like the concept of God currently portrayed by religion and so they reject the idea of God or view God as an enemy.
Through this strategy, the adversary destroys faith and taints our view of the role that God desires to play in our lives. This has resulted in the increasing success of secularism, even among those with strong religious beliefs.
Many other beliefs limit our perspective on God’s role. Two examples of these are beliefs that God only periodically intervenes in the lives of His children or that God is not a God of miracles anymore.
If God is the Creator of all things and the Father of all of us, and if God loves his children and seeks their progression and happiness, then why would He not involve himself in all aspects of our life? In addition to teaching us through religion, why would He not intervene in politics, economics, and all other aspects of our life? Why would He not intervene to stop the pending destruction that hangs over this world?
The answer–He will and is.
You are definitely off base and out to lunch. It would be funny if it wasn’t so frightening. Yes, I am aware that you are past master at manipulating and will turn every negative comment to your benefit. So be it.
If you are of the religous persuasion that you claim to be you will understand that the ‘impending’ destruction of the world is all part of the plan. Why would God intervene and frustrate His own plan?
This ‘movement’ is not religous? Really? You might want to change the filter on your furnace cause you have some freaky stuff flowing through your house.
I don’t understand why this is “frightening.” I think that the notion of God’s hand in all human affairs is very hopeful and encouraging.
